EU AI Act implementation status April 2026: Digital Omnibus trilogue underway

An April 2026 status update on the EU AI Act notes that Digital Omnibus trilogue negotiations launched on 26 March following the European Parliament plenary vote with 569 in favour. Member state designation of market surveillance authorities remains uneven, with France and Spain ahead and others still in consultation. The Commission’s AI Act Service Desk and Single Information Platform are now live. August 2026 remains the main application date for high-risk AI obligations including LE use-cases.
