Predictive Policing AI Adoption Continues Despite Ethical Concerns

Analysis reveals that 90% of US law enforcement officials support using AI technology in policing practices despite ongoing concerns about algorithmic bias and transparency. Predictive policing tools analyse historical crime data demographic indicators and socio-economic metrics to forecast criminal activity. The EU Artificial Intelligence Act which came into effect in February 2025 prohibits AI systems predicting criminal probability though exceptions exist for major crimes including terrorism murder and human trafficking. Critics argue these systems perpetuate racial bias and create opacity in law enforcement decision-making.
