Greater Manchester Police has launched specialist Live Facial Recognition vans to support neighbourhood teams and track down wanted persons across the North West. The technology uses biometric measurements to scan faces in crowds and busy streets, alerting officers when individuals on police watch lists are identified. Two vans will be available to forces across the region, with the first deployment in Sale town centre at the end of October 2025. The Metropolitan Police has already used this technology to arrest over 1000 criminals.
