The FAA has introduced the DETER (Drone Enforcement, Testing, Education and Remediation) programme, creating a fast-track enforcement pathway for drone violations. First-time operators can resolve eligible violations in 10 days by admitting liability and completing corrective actions, waiving appeal rights in exchange for reduced penalties. Law enforcement agencies will be able to report violations to the FAA in real time. The programme addresses the gap between drone detection β increasingly performed by police β and the slow pace of traditional administrative enforcement.
