EU Commission consults on AI transparency guidelines ahead of August 2026 application date

The European Commission opened a consultation on 8 May 2026 on draft guidelines for the AI Act’s Article 50 transparency obligations covering chatbots AI-generated content and synthetic media. The guidelines form part of the build-up to the AI Act’s full application date of 2 August 2026. Watermarking obligations for AI-generated content are deferred to 2 December 2026 under the provisional Omnibus agreement reached on 7 May.
