Biometrics in Action Conference Highlights EU Security Technologies

The European Commission DG Migration and Home Affairs organised a two-day Biometrics in Action conference on 23-24 September 2025, showcasing innovative EU-funded projects in biometrics and security. Projects presented included CarMen (scalable automated biometric identification for travellers in various transport modes), POLIIICE (lawful interception technologies for 5G, encrypted and quantum communications), and LICORICE (privacy-preserving technologies and secure identity management from November 2025). The event featured discussions on AI threats and digital identity manipulation, maritime border security using satellites and UAVs with AI-driven data fusion, and contactless multi-fingerprint scanning technology. Sessions addressed identity verification in complex environments and fostered innovation in biometric security research.
