ACLU flags Axon Policy Chat as another premature AI insertion into policing

The ACLU has published a commentary on Axon’s Policy Chat, an LLM-based product that answers officers’ procedural questions using their department’s own policies. While the ACLU considers it lower risk than AI-generated reports, it warns that AI shortcuts in criminal justice warrant close scrutiny and that vendors are eager to move faster than oversight structures allow.
