Washington’s Driver Privacy Act forces multiple sheriffs to shut down Flock ALPR networks

Following Washington Governor Bob Ferguson’s signing of Senate Bill 6002 (the Driver Privacy Act), Pierce County, Spokane County, Seattle, and several other Washington State jurisdictions deactivated their Flock Safety ALPR systems. The law bans data collection near schools, health facilities and courts, restricts sharing with out-of-state or federal agencies, and caps retention at 21 days. Law enforcement leaders said current hardware cannot comply in real time without risk of gross misdemeanour exposure for individual officers.
