Belgium: Antwerp Federal Judicial Police calls for expanded AI powers and Europol-developed Police GPT

The head of the Antwerp Federal Judicial Police, Yve Driesen, has publicly called for a broader legal framework to enable faster AI adoption, citing the speed advantage currently held by criminal organisations. Driesen describes existing AI-powered in-house image analysis tools and calls for a Europol-developed Police GPT. He highlights that criminal cartels use AI systems including FraudGPT and WormGPT, and use blockchain and crypto to obscure proceeds.
